Woh. Went to Monarch today -- knew it would be rife with gapers but was not prepared. It's been a long time since I've seen so much NFL regalia (even a Dolphins jacket and earband combo!...yes, on a dude) and rediculous hats (even a set of three foot wide plush moose horns!). The conversations in the long ass lift lines were classic:
(read with thich Texan drawl)
"Sheeoot, this snow is just incredible" (they did report 2 inches overnight, afterall)
"I know, this must be the best place to ski in the world!"
The best part was on my very premature walk throught the parking lot back to my car I spied a liscence plate on a shiny new Ford Excursion (how much are they?) that read "SKI BUM". I laughed my ass off. I wish I could tell you it was a Texas plate, but it was from NM.
