Yahoo and Torrent SOT
I've been down the Snake River Canyon south of Jackson WY a dozen times in the last 6 weeks -- mostly IK's. (Also 5 days on the Yampa/Green in late June in IK.) That's the extent of my WW experience. Rented a Yahoo SOT on Saturday and a Torrent SOT today. Until today, I have not flipped once. Today I flipped twice. Interesting. Once was in "Kahuna" which is the biggest right now, so no big surprise -- I knew a flip there was probably coming. But I flipped a second time while turning back down river after trying to surf a fairly small wave! My guess is that, because I have mostly been in stable IK's, that I have developed some bad habits -- in hindsight, I should have been very conscious of leaning downstream as I turned from pointing upstream to downstream -- had not been as issue in the IK's. (Edited to add -- I also haven't had to develop the reflex to highside which might have avoided the second flip.) But, I'm also wondering about possible differences between the Yahoo and Torrent. Now it could be that I just hit Kahuna right/wrong today in the Torrent. And it could be that I didn't do much 180 degree turning on the Yahoo Saturday (but I do think I did some). Any reason to think the Torrent is more susceptible to getting flipped? Thanks!
