I don't kayak, but I must say that I have been disappointed in Sawyer products from the get go. My friend's guide stick was not only heavy and clunky, it broke in more that one place in its first season. The blade also started de-laminating and coming apart.
I used some of their counter balanced oars on Cat recently and hated them. Counter balance doesn't help when your oars are heavy as shit to begin with. Come people swear by Sawyer, but I think it's just cheap wood stuff. If you want quality wood you have to fork over the cash. If not, buy fiberglass or carbon.
