It seems like alot of wood paddles co. do not advertise there weight. Its not the end all be all, but it would be nice to know to compare.

it would be extremely hard to advertise weight as most wood paddles are custom built for there paddler, 188cm-203cm, different woods, different blade shapes it has too many variables to say this is what it weighs. If your concerned about a couple ounces, drink one less beer each night.

I weighed my last two paddles.

Bent shaft 197
standard ash and spruce shaft, yellow cedar blades (this is my standard)
44 oz

Bent shaft 197
all bamboo shaft, yellow cedar blades, double glass (Baer proof)

An important factor with wood is swing weight, where more weight is added to the center of the paddle to give the overall paddle a lighter feel.

I had a Silver Creek back in the day also. I have used Sawyer paddles and oars for many years on my rafts. Recently my 15 yr old son has become a good kayaker and has fallen in love with Sawyer kayak paddles. He plays with the Copperhead, runs big water with the Diamondback and creeks with the Sidewinder. These paddles are pretty awesome. They are wood/carbon having carbon shaf on the Copperhead and wood with carbon wrap on the others. They have incredibly beautiful wood blades, once again with carbon reinforcements. They weigh a lot less than your old Silver Creek (close to the lightest all carbon paddles in wieght) and they have a lot more technology in design. Having watched CJ beat the heck out of them I can say they are tough. Awesome paddles. Check them out, I think you will be impressed.
