I paddle a late 1996 dagger freefall as my creek boat of choice. I learned to paddle in a very similar boat and I love the old school feel. I still occasionally see other freefalls as well. One of the senior staffers at the USNWC, for example is a fellow fan.
It definitely lacks some of the nimbleness of newer boats, but I like the old displacement hull and 10ft length. It punches holes like nothing else out there. I wasn't paddling in 1996 (I was only 6 at the time), but I learned in older boats and am more comfortable with that feel. I have used it mostly on III-IV, but a decent amount of V as well.
