What makes a great surfing boat ?
I am upgrading boats this year. I have boated a Riot Booster 50 for a few years and like it. However It pearls, dives some, and is not suited for big squirly water. I also have a Prijon Hurricane which I loved for punching big holes and side surfing, but it is a slug for speed and weight (and just a bit long).
My prefered class/style is IV-V water, lots of hole and wave surfing. I like downriver runs, and not much into the rodeo scene. I spin some but no flips. I have owned many boats and lived east and west. A Perception Mirage with plastic walls was my 1st boat <grin>. That boat got AWESOME enders ! Cut my teeth on the New and Gauley in that boat. Fond memories.
I would like a 7-8ft boat, with rails for surfing and believe 55-60 gals volume. My 50 gal riot in big water is a submarine at my weight of 178 lbs. So maybe 55-60 gals would be ideal volume. I am not fond of huge/bulbous cockpits but could live with that if the boat surfed well.
Used and new are on my list...I have been looking at the Inazone 233, Dagger Axiom, Pyranna Burn, Pyrahna Z.one to name a few. Crossover like the Fuse 56, and others are not out of the question as long as they surf well, punch holes, ride holes...
Thanks all for any input you may have.
