What happened to thrusters?

A few years ago when I was first getting into kayaking all my friends told me to have a thruster, but now it seems like the only people that use them are the all-stars in a Jackson. Why is it preferred to just let the implosions happen?

just a guess. . . litigation station? review site talked about how they're not recommended for beginners (obviously) and that anyone using one should know it can (not does) make getting out of your boat more difficult.

I got one of the IR superman looking spray skirts and it had like a removable thruster, but I just got for the deal and was happy because I use it when I play in the lake Michigan surf. Do implosions just not happen anymore? Or do the new rubber band style skirts just perform that well?

the point of overthrusters is to increase the volume of air in the boat to get bigger pop out of the water when playboating - not to prevent implosions. You only see them in certain boats because there is a relatively small amount of people who care enough about this extra pop to bother with them - mostly people in competitions and those trying to sell playboats in videos

I think in addition to providing slightly more volume (easily under 1 gallon) they provide consistent volume by not allowing the skirt to collapse even when though it does not implode. Agreed though there are few who care enough about play boating to use one, and most of those people are in jacksons.
