The tan color were my choice for the reasons mentioned - now just need some time to get out and put them to use, either on a river or on a backcountry type camping trip!

Just got a set those buylci things are pretty thick walled and rugged

Heavy they are! I just got back from the Rogue, first trip using these carriers; folks had lots of suggestions as how to "improve" them - move the vent, add straps and so on... I thought they were fine - the caps are the product of a bit too much thinking, but

Woops, sent too soon. Anyway they are indestructable and I can use them for other outdoor activities without too much worry about losing the water supply
