Water guns

Wondering which brands the kids like best. I bought a couple stream machines with the gun handle, but the 4yr old can't get water to shoot more than a couple feet.
Any opinion on the NRS brand or others being better for small kids?

We have both. The 3 yr old can shoot the NRS one far enough to get him in trouble, repeatedly, over and over again...he thinks it's really funny. He was never able to use the stream machine very well, then it broke anyway.

Thanks for the post. The stream machine doesn't seem like it would last very long.

We got the kids some last season, two NRS and two discount store. All are the tube NRS style. The NRS tubes worked awesome, even the three yr old could use them, but they somehow got sand/grit worked into them and now are hard to pump. They still work but are hard for even the 7 yr old to use. There isn't any way to open them up to clean them out, so I guess they're big kid toys now. I'm surprised that normal use in river/lake water would clog them up; encountering sand in conjunction with water is a long shot, so obvioulsy they didn't design against that possibility. The discount store tubes were harder to pump in the first place and didn't squirt as well. But considering they cost a fraction of the NRS pumps and didn't get clogged with normal use, they may be the better deal in the end.

I doubt your 4yo is going to have much better luck with either. If anything the handle helps the little ones. I just went to the stream machines for the same reason above, one nrs got so stiff with sand it wouldn't move. Too many deso floats with muddy water I guess. Don't really see a great quality difference at this point. Haven't tried to build ones from pvc yet, that might be the long term solution.

We use the long stream machine version to fill sun showers. someone holds the sun shower open and it is surprising easy to fill the sun shower.

Once they start to stick, I've had luck spraying a little WD40 or similar inside to lube the rubber gasket. Give it a shot of oil every once in a while and that loosens them up pretty good!

Water Blaster XLR/Water Cannon...

I carry the American made Water Blaster XLR/Water Cannon at TMCK, very easy to use, durable, and has over a 60 foot range. Experienced a 5 year old give it a go with easy. Have one for demo if your 4 year old like to give it a try.

Keep The Hairy Side Up...
