I have to ditch the springs anyways. I've just gotten DRE oarstands, and the hole for the lock shaft is a lot longer, so the spring won't fit. Plus, I bent the shaft of the Cobra, so I want a couple of washers above so that the bend gets above the stand hole and then it spins freely. A couple of washers below would be good, but that is where there is tight tolerances with the stand. I really wish I could use the springs, because I don't like the banging around and movement that you get without them.
Maybe I'll just cut the springs so they aren't too long, but I still need more washers.
I think I need to just go beyond the local hardware store, and get something from a fastener company on-line.
