Trailer Modification Questions

I've got an 8'X10' snow mobile trailer that I am wanting to modify. There is a 2.5" aluminum side wall that I want to cover up to get rid of the sharp edge at the rear of the trailer.

I was thinking about taking some pvc pipe and cutting a slot to slip over the side wall. I'm wondering what the best way to attach the pvc to the trailer is. Any thoughts?

If you dont plan on using it as a snowmobile trailer anymore, just take the decking off, then cut the rails off. Reinstall the decking and they are gone and you dont have to worry about it anymore.
