The Ace's tail catches a lot, one of the drawbacks of it being a good cartwheeling boat I suppose.
Somewhat shorter stubbier tails seem to be the design trend in playboat/river runners these days.
But being a better boater than I was when I paddled the Ace, and leaning forward when in rapids should fix a lot of the undesired catching problems.
My 3 successive head whack days on Shoshone as a beginner all took place in an Ace demo. I think I should have been paddling a more forgiving boat as an absolute beginner, but the Ace was all that was left at the shop.
