Sotar SL tapered tubes in flatwater

Has anyone out there actually rowed a 16' Sotar SL - that's the one with the tapered tubes on the straight section. I'm looking for some feedback on how it handles with a load on flatwater, boils and eddy lines on canyon country rivers such as the Grand, in comparison to a traditionally designed 16' boat w/o tapered tubes. I get that it will handle and pivot better in rapids it's the other 200 miles I'd like to hear about.
