Snowboard Bindings

Blew out a pair of Burton Mission Dooms this weekend. Time to replace 'em! Any recommendations bindings for big-mountian fast and steep style riding? These will never see the park.

Anyone have experiece with Flow bindings? Looks like a good design, but I have heard about easy-to-break parts.

Thanks!

I'd stay away from the flow. Traditional straps work best for me. I too never go into the part. I only ride big mountain, trees and powder. Also stay away from the new toe straps, they totally blow.

I rock the burton Cartel's,and i like em, aside from the occassional strap breaking in the freezing cold and the f'n chairlifts at Jackson snapping a piece of the highbacks off. I've mostly been freeridin since i got em, but i do go in the park when i get the chance and they've never failed me. I don't see anything wrong with the toecaps, i have several pairs of bindings and i love the toecaps. I went back to the old school style a couple times this season and it just didn't feel right. That douchebag flowtorch rides last years missions and i've seen him do S-rails at keystone in em so i don't see why they would'nt work in the park.

Gaper, do you have Burton boots. . . if you do I'm sure they work great. I have Northwaves and I could never get them tight enough. When I did get them tight, the male strap would always strip out. I think they are a good idea, but they are still a little goofy. Basically I've had issues with all my new gear. I got this CLOUDVEIL jacket that is total crap. The first one I blew out the zipper and the second one tore on a tree. They warrantied the first, but not the second. To add insult to injury its gonna take em 4 weeks to fix it. . . and they are charging me 40 bucks. Oh well back to the old standby NOrthface.

Phillips, what type of binding are you using? Do you like 'em? Our riding styles sound similar. I am using 32 Force boots and the Burton bindings were...ok until they cracked on the heel. Come to think if it, probably my fault for not folding down the backs for the lift, but Burtons have that fkn stupid ratchet thing on the backs which makes it a pain in the ass to fold down. Maybe this is by design so they break on the lift sending you to the binding shop.

Cloudveil is a great company with great people...blame the tree, not them. Everything rips if it snags on a tree and if tiny companies like them gave you new shit everytime it happened they'd go under. Bust out your needle and thread.

I, too, like the capstraps. Both my binding sets have them and they work great. I use Burton boots, too, though..which might make a difference I dunno.

What I do know is that you cannot go wrong with Burton stuff. I broke a year old baron right in front of the front binding when I landed wrong. I called, got a return authorization, fedexed it for $30 s&h and had a brand new THIS SEASON's board for free in less than a week. Shazam.

I wear Vans boots. The same thing happened to the heel on my highback, damn chair snapped it.

Also, I know that Burton did the same thing for Brotorch, he snapped his baron and they had it replaced with this seasons model in no time.

I have the Burton Missions and Saloman Malamutes and they feel solid. I've droped some 20 footers with big gaps with no problem. Same with trees etc.

technine - most bomber, cheapest, "pro" bindings i've found. i also freeride and backcountry. got two pairs; one with toe caps, one without. can't tell the difference. also good are the nidecker (sp?) bindings. maybe better than technine but more expensive. i haven't used burton bindings since ~92'; and those were the three stap model.
