I used waders and dry top for my first season of boating (lots of swims) and had no issues. The biggest obstacle is fitting footwear into your boat. Neoprene wader booties didn't for inside my boating booties. Might need to move foot pad forward to allow room.carry sandals in the playboat

I did drytop over waders for a couple of years. I went as far as adding a 2nd tunnel to the waders that I could mate with the inner tunnel of the drytop and neoprene skirt tunnel over that. Water intake was minimal after a swim. It was also a bulky roll at my ribcage under my PFD.

This was absolutely the biggest problem. 11 years now with a drysuit, and haven't looked back.

Thank you. That's the first explanation that has ever actually made sense.

Previously, my best understanding was: water doesn't become heavier than water; it just makes it near impossible to get out of the body of water.
