Seriously though - you might want to re-evaluate your statement. Shredders are great boats - but they are narrow and can flip easily (compared to full size rafts) especially with newbies in them. But if I'm wrong I would love to take video of you running some class VI gnar. Just please don't die as I don't find that entertaining, even if I get to yell "I told you so!" at the top of my lungs.
I said compared to a kayak, not a full size raft. And I stand by that. A newbie can get down class III easily in a shredder where they would be swimming every drop in a kayak. Someone with some practice could do Class IV in a shredder way before they would be ready in a kayak.
My point was that it is easy getting out on the water more even though you need a paddleing partner (until you learn to S1) because you don't need experienced partners to run Class III. Extrapolate that to ridiculous ends if you feel the need. I only run stuff in the shredder that I would be comfortable swimming. Above that I'll stick to kayaking.
