Its hard to beat a chilled jug of booze and crystal light made with ice cold spring water
I normally bring 5 cases of beer, 120qt yeti, and load the bottom with block ice. It normally lasts about a week. Then load it with food. As ice melts, I replace space with river dragged beer. On a long trip like the grand this obviously doesnt work, but for trips I do in Idaho it seems to work pretty well. I may get a second cooler to do the satellite scenario and keep my beer in there with food that is thawing. I do devote quite a bit of space to ice in the big yeti maybe too much. The one thing I have learned with the yeti is it makes a big difference in how long the ice lasts if the cooler has been prechilled.
Im curious, how much ice do you have in your 120 cooler with the majority devoted to food?
Love the fire extinguisher idea, you can make dry ice on the river, could be awesome for desert rivers.
