Sealing Cracks

So I cracked my jackson 4 fun this weekend its's about a 2.5 inch crack towards the bow of the boat on the bottom with a smaller 1 inch crack a little above that same spot. Finished the run before I noted anything now I am wondering what the life span on patching/sealing these cracks is. I have never had to do this before have always replaced my boat before it cracked, so is it worth it or do you just prolong the inevitable and end up with a new boat in a month or two anyways?
