Royalex Canoe D-Ring Removal?

Got an old Dagger that was outfitted for a guy who was 6'6" and I am 5'8" on a tall day with a 30" inseam.

I want to remove some of his D-Rings and install a new crotch anchor for the thigh straps. His old anchors are in the way of any new anchors and are waay too far forward for me.

Is there any reccomended way to do this that won't completely destroy the hull of the boat?

Thanks for any input,

Just leave the Dring there and use it for tying down float bags or gear boxes. Extra Drings always come in handy, ant that one won't be in your way.

Best case you can cut the nylon strap and try to make it less obstructive, but NO you cannot remove those patch without seriously messing up the hull.

Depends on the adhesive that was used to put on the D-rings. If the correct type was used, a heat gun and putty knife will do the job.

It does have to be done carefully on low heat since the outer vinyl of the ABS will melt.

like cadster said it depends what glue was used to attach them. you can try the heat and putty knife method, just be patient. if that doesn't seem to be working you can glue over/cut to fit the new patch over the old one.

You deserve a good paddling!
