made my own rocket box slings. and yes, it's a pain to get a full box of poo into the sling. but it makes rigging them so easy. they have a place, right next to the cooler and drybox.

I built a sling like this out of wood, webbing, and strap slides. Works great for me, but I also added a lift strap to the boxes since the handles are not accessable when the boxes are lined-up end-to-end.

I made a wood floor for my cockpit(dancefloor) and love it, you can set ammo cans on the floor and rig it so you can access them without removing straps. And you can crush beer cans on it.
Pool and a pond... Pond be good for you.

The issue I had with them was not the side bars, but the flanges themselves (the part you pull up to open the can). You can't hold the handles while loading you have to crimp the lid edge and its hard to get the flanges and the handles both into the slings without catching your finger or the side of the sling, possibly opening the can. Then, you can't get into them while floating easily either.
