Thanks big for your in depth analysis. I'm actually from Australia and don't have anything bigger then grade 4 and very little and I mean very little creeking. As for playing, surfing is about all I would do. So again zen sounds like the winner.

The Zen is awesome for surfing low-angle waves, I love mine I love how easily I can carve just by lifting a knee.

I've got a Remix 79 (it's a few years old) and I've paddled a newer Zen 75 a fair bit. Here's my thoughts/experience

The Remix outfitting is a little harder to adjust but it STAYS PUT. I had to tighten the Zen's footbrace every hour or so. The backband design on the Remix makes putting gear in the back challenging.

The Remix has a flat stern while the Zen has a more domed stern. I think this makes the Remix less forgiving if you screw up your edging.

I didn't notice any real difference in speed or performance.
