Replacing knee brace bracket on Stomper

Last week, while paddling in the PNW, the left knee brace on my Stomper fell off. The plastic bracket that holds the ratcheting part to the boat has threaded holes that the bolts screw into. These threads stripped out.

Has anyone else had this problem?
Would it be a feasible idea to replace this plastic bracket with an aluminum or stainless steel one? Its essentially a 4"X 0.75" rounded rectangle (0.2" thick) with three threaded holes.

I just had a bunch of parts mailed to me from liquidlogic for my 90, at no charge. Email Ben at, he'll hook you up!

A new bracket would be good, a stronger bracket that wouldn't break would be great. Would it be possible to make my own?
