Does anyone use two way radios on and around the river? I was thinking of getting a pair so I can stay in touch with my wife while on the road, and thought they might also be useful on the river. I know there are fancy satellite tracking systems and radios for emergencies, but would a radio give you any chance of reaching help in an emergency? I would think for something like the Arkansas, Eagle, Poudre, etc, they would. Not so much on the Grand... LOL
I'll get them for the car rides anyway. My buddy has some, and I found that they are handy for having someone to talk to on the long drive to the rivers. With enough range, they could be handy for shuttles too, for giving directions, eta, "stop and get more beer" and that kind of thing.
Cell phones are great - when there is coverage. I wanted something for where there isn't, and that doesn't use minutes... LOL
