possible to make a bulkhead?

Quick question for you guys! I got a diesel 75 that did not have the bulkhead come with it. Instead, it has that plastic base plates that the bulkhead would normally attach to. Is it possible to make a bulkhead out of regular foam? There doesn't seem to be anywhere that I can get a bulkhead for it so if you know anywhere please let me know also! Thanks

Definitely. It would help if you looked at another Wavesport or Dagger boat so you could copy the funny shape that their foam is in and see how it's oriented on the bulkhead. You could try going to a kayak shop and see if they'll give you some freebees, but what I found is kayak shops tend to mark the foam they sell up to obscene levels. I ordered a giant sheet of foam from these guys:

Welcome to Foam Factory, Inc.

I got a 3/4" minicel foam sheet that's 48x48. It was like 35 bucks or something, but now I never have to go groveling for foam again. I cut out a bunch of these using a template, made swiss cheese out of one of them for the middle layer, in order for it to compress in the event of a piton, and stacked several them onto my bulk head and glued them down.

Yes, but you shouldn't

Yes, but you shouldn't. Foam is costly to buy in bulk and cut it down to perfection.

A better option is to call Sean at Alpine Kayak in Avon or Glenwood and see if they can help you track down the parts. They just might have the exact piece you need from an old demo or replacement kayak scrapped for parts. Tis the season for boat damage.

Thanks for the replies so far! Keep them coming with any other ideas. I'll definitely call or send Sean an email to see if he has any extra parts.
