Paddle angle and length

Another newbie question. Whats the deal with the angle on paddles? I bought a used seven2 paddle for cheap and then after looking around I realized that its quite a bit less angled than other kayak paddles I've seen. Its 15 degrees. Since then I've seen paddles for sale from everything to 15 to 45 degrees! Is it just preference? How would I go about firguring out whats best for me? I'd like to get a new paddle, a werner, but don't know about what angle. Another question. What about length? 191? 194? 200?

I'm 5'11" 170 lbs if that matters.

Well I think what you are calling angle is actually feather. Personally I think zero to 15 is good depending on what feels good and works for you. The werner website has a what paddle is right for me section. Try it out. I would say 194 for playboating and 197 for river running but these are guidelines. Seems like the very fit and no injuries types will go with longer paddles. Well long for you would be 200, no longer than that.
