I am posting this wherever I can. I had a similar experience with Proline Products, also from the web. I bought a roof rack from them and specificly asked if it would fit my make/model truck and would it fit over my topper. They told me yes, well when the rack arrived it did not fit. I called, they told me that no one told me that and suggested that I get a new truck, sell my topper, sell the rack local in that order. They charge for shipping both ways so I had to spend 151 dollars. This company is three brothers and a cousin I know because I asked to speak with supervisor the guy said fine but he is my brother, nice. There is no local shop around here, Thule, Yak dont have this specific rack that I wanted, just a heads up.

Contacting Dragorossi is a good idea. They will probably be able to replace the boat but that does eliminate the possibility of switching boats. If worst comes to worst, you could then try to sell the new and intact boat and could probably get a decent price for it. As far as ordering equipment goes the guys at CKS are awesome and do a great job with online orders (check out coloradokayak.com). And this still counts as supporting a local shop. Okay, maybe not local to you, but still local to us .

Gator - I sympathize with your plight - been there, done that a number of times (not with boats but other stuff). Glad you've decided to get into kayaking - it's a blast! You aren't going to like what I'm going to say, though.

You've admitted you made a $1200 purchase without reading the return policy; you took a course where it sounds like you had an agreement with the instructor that you'd provide a boat; you didn't know anything about the boat (buying a boat online that you've never seen/sat in isn't a good idea, as you now know). Your expectation of what was going to happen far exceeded the reality, and that sucks, but seriously, at this point you might just want to chalk it up to experience and move on.

I have an order into OutdoorPlay now; never ordered from them before, but several folks I know have placed orders with them and they are very happy with their experiences - great prices, great customer service.

boat damage pictures

surfingator, could you post pictures of the boat? I'd like to see the hull oil canning and the backband situation.

Dude ... frankly, you sound like you work at Outdoorplay ... so I'm not going to get into the internet arguement with you.

but to everyone else .... move on with $1500 of your money dropped? to the "100% Satisfaction Guaranteed" Kayak Shop .... "Our Guarantee:
We want you to be happy with the products you buy from Outdoorplay and the service you receive. If you are not completely satisfied with any product you buy from us, you are welcome to return it or exchange it via our returns and exchange policy."

ships you a damaged boat ... with a damaged skirt bag ... and then tells you ... "oh, should have read the return policy ... it wasn't really 100% ... just for some of our customers ... just ones who purchase at full retail ... and then they need to use it, find the problem, and call us within two weeks." "Otherwise you're screwed buddy."

yeah ...

emailed Corran ... sent him some pics of the boat ... seems like a nice person. hopefully he can help.

I couldn't download the pics to this site ... I will post them up to webshots and link them later ...

I find that if I make regrettable mistakes that could have been avoided (like not reading the "fine print" when making a purchase and ordering a boat I've never seen/been in) and the situation can't be remedied after trying every angle, it's easier for me to just let it go. Carrying that anger and hatred around sucks, and letting it go feels great. I wished him luck in this problem and in boating.

I've heard great things about CKS, btw.
