I apologize. My reading comprehension was low. I saw the size of his boat, skimmed through your math and saw your 7 1/2 foot conclusion. My bad for assuming that was your reccommendation.

Do I think a 8 ft oar is right for him? No. 10 ft? Maybe. My point was to try different lengths and see what felt best for him with his setup.

My boat is a couple inches wider and I use 9s.

Real adventure is only one bad decision away.
