the silicone caulk idea seems to be a good one for keeping the cooler from sliding along the straps.
I am very intrigued with this idea, as it seems to have great potential to "set it and forget it." And it does look very stable and secure to me. But I am wondering if after a few days of being wet and bounced around holding up a fully-loaded large cooler, do the straps need to be tightened/re-adjusted? Because it seems to me that, if necessary, having to adjust it with any frequency would be a royal PITA. Or worse, could this work loose and drop into the H2O (I run a cat with no floor)? Again, it sure looks solid and secure, but does anyone have experience to the contrary?
