Newbie Boat advice

Hey all,

Nice to meet you. I'm new here and am hoping for a bit of advice. I'm looking for my first boat. Hopefully one that I wont get too bored of quickly, but one that one get me in over my head.

I live in Baltimore and will be boating in the Mid Atlantic region. I'm looking for a creek boat. I'm 6'3" 240 Lbs and, if it matters, possess the strength of ten men.

Any suggestions? My closest dealer is suggesting Pyranha Everest or 2010 Burn L. The Burn fits really nice and I'm hoping to paddle both this week. I'd also like to try the Carnali. I've also been offered a used Fluid Solo L.

Can anyone educate me on the pluses/minuses of displacement vs. semi-planing? Weaknesses of the above mentioned boats? Any advice would be really appreciated.

Thanks much and nice to meet Y'all!

This question is asked nearly every week so don't be surprised if you get few responses. But do a thread search for some good advice...Also DEMO!!

For beginners I think just paddling any boat and learning is most important. Then you can tweek/decide on what you like and don't like about boats.

Burn L by the way!
