New Westwater kayak

Check it out.......... this could be the ultimate kayak for Westwater. No more worries about the flat water at the end of the trip. You could motor in and out of the room of doom with ease. I'm betting it could even pull the float-tilla to the take out.

I'm thinking about getting one as an escape pod for my cat.

Naww. Too many whitewater paddlers are out of shape bastards. Skip the motor and get some exercise. Sheesh.

"No longer will the wind and the current get in the way of your destination!"

Damn current was always pushing me off line. I used to think it was my faulty technique, until I discovered my 4-stroke electric kayak...

I never realized current was a bad thing in kayaking. Silly me.

I sure hope these are not allowed in Westwater. They are gas powered right?

Don't take it too seriously......we all know motors are only allowed for the flat water section........ after the canyon.

I like the comment about whitewater paddlers being out of shape bastards... You gotta be kidding me! Most whitewater paddlers are in better shape than the rest of the population. The sun in Florida must have baked your brain cells!!!

Hi Caverdan,

Just a minor point, but motors are not restricted to the flat water at WW at this time.

Not many folks in typical craft feel the desire to motor the rapids -- or the flats either, unless the wind is up. But every now and then a snout or something else really big goes down there and does the whole thing under power.

I say "at this time" because the wilderness study for the entire WW area might some day come to fruition, in which case motor use on the river might be impacted. Already, the land portion of the WW Wilderness Study Area is fenced off (the fence runs from east of Little Hole all the way to Big Hole) and mechanized travel of any kind has been banned.
