New to the Sport

I'm 5'4'', 180lbs wear a 8-1/2 shoe. I'm looking for advice on gear from top to bottom. A good buddy recommended me to this site so thanks for any advice in advance.

Need a little more info to really help you out along the line of what kind of boating are you planning on doing River Running, River Play, Playboating
Year round or seasonal for what kind of layering to recommend.

Stop into a local shop like Confluence Kayaks to get some personal informatin.
