I know its a broad question, but I'd appreciate people's comments on a good beginner boat. I'm new at kayaking, got sucked in during raft guiding! I'm an agressive girl in most of the stuff i do, so i think i'll progress rather fast, but I don't want a boat to kick my but too early on! I've paddled a Dagger Juice, and found it a bit slicey, and thought the Liquid Logic Little John was way too forgiving... but I'm not too familiar with other companies. Any advice on specific boats, or at least comments on what to look for, or mistakes that people have made buying their own boats will be greatly appreciated!
Are you looking for a playboat or a river runner? B/c this will make a huge difference. Are you looking for a new or used boat? That'll make a difference too. Tell me what you plan on boating in the next 6 months (classes etc) and I'll see what I think.
The Little Joe was a size too big for you. A lot of girls like the Trigger, Skip, Pocket Rocket, and/or the small Vision. The later 3 are playboats.
I wish I had the ability to have as many boats as I do skis... but I'm looking for a boat that is predom. a river runner... with maybe a little bit of an ability to play... ya know, sorta like an all mountain ski. If I really get into kayakin, then I'll start a quiver of boats! But, til then...
as for used, and new, i really don't see a reason to buy a new boat... im a new boater, so it really won't matter to me... gently used is perfectly fine.
and classes... i've done the shoshone a few times... and the rapids weren't really an issue for me. it was the damn slack water and eddies that ate me alive! So... i guess i'd like to hone my class III skills this summer, and maybe, if im feelin ballsy, attempt a class IV rapid or two!

I'm a fond believer that a playboat (scooter, PR, etc) is a great boat to learn in. Granted you'll flip more but, you can run a playboat through almost anything below class 5 so go for that. But, if you don't see yourself doing cartwheels etc. then get the Trigger
pyranha has traeted me really well and i paddle an S6F but i have also paddled the seven-o and that boat is pretty sweet, i also have a wave sport but i don't think there product is very good just had bad luck with them but thats just my view. go to colorado kayak supplies they have been awesome for me and they most likely will be awesome for you awesome staff they know alot. thats all i can help you with good luck. oh and PS welcome to the adiction of kayaking and the river hahaha

There is a used Wavesport ez up for silent auction at the Lyons october hole fundraiser this sunday at Oscar Blues in Lyons starting at 4pm. I think the opening bid is $150.
It's had 1 owner (me) and was good for running rivers & playing and it's a really cool battleship gray. i'm 5'7 145#, so you'll have no problem getting into it.
I learned to paddle in a river-running/playboat. I think it is a great option for any new boater. You will get tossed around a little more in a lower volume boat, but once you get comfortable you will be glad you are in a boat that has play ability. Otherwise, you might feel like you out grew a strict river-runner within a season or two.
Great to see another former rubber-pusher stepping up to plastic!
Good advice, many good boats in this class this year. My favorites would be the CR, only been in it in the pool though and the EZG which I use on the river.
