Well, I got to demo the 2011 super hero this weekend.
As a beginner who has done class 2+ for the last few year I ended up doing class 3 /3+ with this boat.
I am finding it difficult to review let alone compare to the Villain I demo'd last summer.
If I only mentioned one thing it would be, I swam only once (dont have a roll) that's not bad for someone who tries a new boat and went up a class number. The river I was on was the Clackamas in Oregon, the stretch was called Fish Creek to Bob's.
Here is a video on that run done by someone else.
the rapid called rock and roll (where the guy gets flipped) is where I took my only spill
So I guess if I had a roll, I would of been fine.
as an older not in the best shape dude, I was totally in pain right before I did that rapid due to a major leg cramp. (after I swam a bit my legs were fine) not sure why but that boat had my legs in such a way I was cramping up within half an hr. I got that way on the Villain after being in it for 6 hrs. Another problem I had was getting the skirt on. For some reason I just could not reach back far enough. To be fair, that was prob just me having a bad day I guess.
I tried surfing a small wave for the first time, seemed like the boat was pearling a bit (nose underwater), had to lean back a lot.
All an all, there were a few people that swam that day, to have only flipped over once was pretty darn good for a newbie.
They only think left is for me to try out the Villain again, this time on that same stretch of water to be fair. (that and take roll classes)
oh one more thing. the last few boats I have demo'd have been really snug. so much so it felt like a wet exit would be unsafe due to all the wiggling out I needed to do.
That's not something a beginner would enjoy much. the Super Hero was no exception.
I dont recall having that concern with the Villain.
Hope my review helps out any new boaters out there.
