New frame on the cheap
I just finished my first built-from-scratch frame. It's 88" long by 66" wide. I cut the crossbars so they would fit inside a 66" NRS frame(64 5/16'' internal width) so I could use their parts from my cat frame and vice versa. Everyone told me to use jigs and a drill press, especially for pinning, but it wasn't really that hard. I used a hacksaw and drill and it only took a few hours to make. I should have spent a little more money and used alum. crossbars instead of galvanized line posts, but I wanted to see how cheap I could get it.
Crossbars were 18 bucks each: 8 for pipe, 9 for fitting and 1 for pin
I already had alum. plugged rails and oar towers, as well as footbar(s).
