MAXXON Cataraft

Any one have any experience with these. They seem like a great deal. I know that they will not last as long as a Highside or AIRE, but the value is tough to beat. From what I read they have a 10 year warranty, but the warranty does not cover the seems which is glued. Boat is PVC. I was thinking that if you treat the PVC often, it will not harden as bad. I also read that the glue that is used (today) is much better than older glues, so that it should hold up better than past glued boats.

I was hoping someone has some experience with these boats. Thanks.

I don't have a cat but I'm in the market for one and have been shopping around. Check out www.rowframe.com, they are a frame builder out of Denver and sell Maxxon's on their website. They seem like pretty honest people and might be able to give you a little insight into Maxxon's. They also make a pretty bomber row frame for much cheaper than NRS, DRE, etc... Hope this helps.

That is where I was looking at purchashing from. I gave Gary a call and he was a great guy. I really wanted an opinion from some one that didn't sell them. He straight up told me that they are not the best cats but the value is tough to beat, which I can totally agree with.
The price at which I was looking at buying used CAT tubes I can get a rock solid frame and NEW tubes. I have seen their frames up close and it is every bit as good as the major frame makers. In all honesty I think they have better frames.

Looks like Rowframe's got some screaming deals on the cat packages. Add about five hundred bucks for miscellaneous accessories (straps, oars, pump, cooler, etc.) if you don't have an inflatable already. For Maxxon info, check out Raft Zone on Boater Talk. You'll be able to get much more beta about catarafts there. Lots of info on inflatable talk on that forum.

Good luck getting the primo gear,

[quote="milehighassassin"] they have a 10 year warranty, but the warranty does not cover the seems which is glued. Boat is PVC.

I've always heard that PVC outgasses a chemical that breaks-down glue. That may be why the seams aren't covered by the warranty.
