Assuming NRS pays 60% of retail and marks it up to full retail, they are working off the 40% margin. The 40% also covers the shipping, by the way. I pulled the 60/40 split out of my ass, of course.
the issue is that every lite cylinder that they have sold, they have made maybe 20% of the sale price after their costs of doing business. for every Ragasco tank that they would replace, they would have to cover the 60% of the Ragasco price to pay Ragasco for the cylinder.
So instead of you getting screwed, they assume the full liability and they are paying 2 times for the cylinder they sold you.
So its a losing proposition for them to warrantee a third party's product, like this. The best you can hope for is if they were to offer you their cost on a replacement cylinder.
So knowing this is the case, I opted for the cylinder on Ebay (Actually from the tikitorch place that is selling on ebay.) It was $99 shipped, about 15% cheaper than NRS. Gotta have propane and although I could have used a heavy steel one, I don't like clunking steel around on my aluminum and PVC boat ...
