Jackson SuperStar - bow stall?

Okay I'm frustrated here. I've been trying to do a bow stall in my Jackson SuperStar. I worked on it all last year, hours upon hours, still can't get it.

I'm starting to think my boat has to much volume. I think the SuperStar is 64gal.

I'm 6'2 185lbs very athletic, I can double pump the boat on its edge, paddle hard into an eddy line, tried moving seat way fwd, still can't get it. If I fill the boat with water its easy.

I'm ready to sell or trade this boat for a smaller one.
Any suggestions would be very helpful.

I have a superstar and it is certainly possible to bowstall it. Having said that, the lightest I've ever paddled the boat was 200lbs.

It took me forever to learn to bowstall. Can you do it in other boats?

I learned to bowstall in the superstar and at that time I was 190lbs. It's just one of those things that you have to stick with and one day out of the blue it will just happen.

I'm 170 and I can bowstall a Superstar, so its definitely possible. I haven't seen you try, but I'm willing to bet you are using your arms too much. Torso rotation is key.

you might be a tad underweight for that boat, but eventually you'll get it. The thing that helped me get bowstalls is to really concentrate on swinging your legs under you. You also wanna concentrate on using your oblique muscle to drive the bow down as well as throwing your weight into it. Keep practicing, you'll get it!

So it can be done. Darn it, I guess I can't blame it on the boat anymore.
I'll keep trying.

It might be worth demoing or borrowing an all star or something for a day or two. once you get the feeling for being able to throw your bow down it should work in the super star. that being said i could throw the bow down in an all-star last season but have switched to the super and haven't been able throw it down yet but i don't think I'm on edge enough yet...

I think you are too small for the boat but flat water tricks should never determine your opinion of a boat.

I can bow stall a super star at 5'10''/160 so you should be able to bow stall it with the right technique. Focus on your torso rotation, get someone who knows how to do it to show you how (over and over again), keep practicing. Remember three important things: edge, torso, and staying center in your boat. Too far forward and you flatten out, too far back your go over vert. With the proper technique you should be able to bow stall a scud or a diesel.

That said, the boat is still too big for you. Check out something more in the 58-60 gallon range, providing you can get your feet inside. It will be a little tough because of your height/weight ratio.
