Hypalon Cleaning

I have a 90's era 18' Achilles bucket boat. Oxidation has turned the once proud red boat into a faded pinkish boat. Does anyone know of an easier way to remove oxidation other than appling elbow grease with a scotchbright pad? I'm hoping there's some chemical cleaner that removes the oxidation but doesn't harm the hypalon.

NRS recommends toluene to clean hypalon. wanting to avoid that harsh stuff, i've used acetone, and it works well. you'll still have to use elbow grease regardless of what you use. if it's faded, then the damage is probably done, but it will help it shine a little more.

By the waterside I will lay my head.

Try some soft scrub on a small section. I have used this successfully for removing black stains from aluminum wear and such. If it looks good, just continue.

The boat cleaner you can get from NRS works great on oxidation and is not as harsh as the toulene is on the raft material.
