I was able to pick up a used dagger crossfire, is this a solid beginner boat? Thanks

The Dagger Crossfire is a pretty old design, however, I believe it will work well for a bit to figure out how much you love the sport. The nice thing about the crossfire is that it rolls easy and that it's faster and more stable than a lot of other boats. The not so nice thing is that you will have the longest boat on the river, which has advantages and disadvantages.

As you progress, you are going to want to look at a shorter and more modern design. Good modern boats to keep your eye out for include the Jackson Hero, Dagger Mamba, and others. As is often said on this website, do a search type in beginner boats and you will find many forums with people's personal opinions on great beginner boats.

Enjoy your time in the crossfire, and if you fall in love with the sport, you can count on spending a pretty penny on a newer boat before long.
