fork oil or rebuild?

This seems like the best forum for this so I was wondering if you guys change oil/rebuild your forks on your mtn bike? How often? Had my current bike for a couple of years and I have never done anything other than oil the sliders.

I've rebuilt a fork that was purchased in 2000 twice. It performs roughly the same as it did when brand new. Depending on the fork you have it may be more of a headache than it is worth though.

I have had mine 3 seasons and changed to oil once but will be changing it again soon. I would recommend at least changing the oil cause that stuff gets beat. If you plan on keeping the bike learn how to change it yourself and buy the oil to do it. If your going to dump the bike soon just pay the $30 or so to have the shop change the oil and inspect the inerds.

You can also get aholt of push industries up in fort fun and they can help you with improvements. I have rode with some of those guys and they seem like decent folk.

post over on mtbr.com in the "shocks and suspension" forum with specifics on your setup and they'll be able to tell you exactly what you need to know. Knowledge folks and that board has high traffic. Depends on how much and what type of riding you do and your setup really. Anyone with basic mechanical skills shouldn't have a problem but you might need to buy a specialized tool or two to get it done. Really no big deal.
