I have some Mountain Surf neoprene shorts that have a "fleece" lining. Best of both worlds.

Fleece if your ever gonna encounter salt water. Sitting in neoprene shorts while their wet and drying kinda sucks.

Fleece shorts also make for a more comfortable pillow...
