Great idea Medic. I hadn't thought of using two, one for base, one for fire. I have had mine 5-6 years now. Only built fire in it a couple times, but have used it for dutch oven cooking a few times. I realize the relatively thin galvanized will burn out over time if used more frequently for long-burn fires, but at $8 or $10 each, if it last a couple seasons, who cares. Meantime, when it's not frostbite season and I won't need fire for heat, I love the the weight-savings, i.e., not having to lug a 40# hunk of steel along. Good answer for those who don't worship fires as much as they used to (grin). Best regards!
