Drytop help!

Need a liitle info. New to playboating. What is the primary difference between a shorty drytop and a long sleeve drytop, apart from the obvious sleeve length? Do the sleeves make that much of a difference? Live and paddle in the reno Nevada area. (Truckee river, american river. carson east fork).

Does anyone know of any manuf. that makes a drytop without the stinking rubber gaskets around the neck? Also anyone know where I can find used drytops, size XL?

I use a Wavesport Jupiter shorty and am fine 95% of the time (price was main factor in decision to get shorty), but if you paddle early season, in damn released from bottom, or at elevation then you may get cold. It does get pretty cold on the arms sometimes, but your core stays just as dry. I'm sure someone makes a non-gaskted shorty, but you can trim it down and/or store it wrapped around something larger than your neck to loosten it up. Also, the shorty gaskets around the bicep, which is less comfortable than around the wrist. Hope that helps.

I believe IR has several neoprene shorties as well.

I was looking at the wavesport Orbit which is L/S. How is the quality of your wavesport top?

Thanks for the tip on the gasket stretching. Should have thought of that. I bought a used top on Ebay that turned out too small and the gasket almost knocked me out it was soo tight.

The quality seems about middle of the road, it isn't breathable though, which hasn't really been a problem yet.
