Drysuit Vs Dry Pants and Top

I am debating between buying either a Kokatat Drysuit or the Sweet drytop and pants combo, mainly due to lower price. What are the advantages and disadvantages of both and what is your recommendation. Thanks

Been lots of talk of this, do a quick search and you will find lots of discussion and many opinions. Spend the money on a gore-tex drysuit and be done with it, you will get any additional cost back on the investment in use and durability. Cant believe I waited almost ten years to get a kokatat GMER, now I am in my drysuit 90% of the time and love it. Changes the way you think about paddling...

I concur with the Freak. You don't need to search, that's the consensus.

And just for good measure... I have done both and wish I would have gone with the Kokatat GMER first. You really can't go wrong with a GMER in terms of durability, reliability, and warranty.

This is pretty biased, but 95% of the people I meet who are in non-GMER dry-suits are only in them because they got a smoken' deal and still wish they had shelled out for the GMER.

I have an IR drytop and the kokatat hydrus bibs and when I have tried them out I have stayed completely dry as long as I rolled up the two correctly. I'm sure that the GMER would be great if you have the money but if you are looking for a cheap alternative and have a good drytop it is another option for you.

My son and I both have the top and bottom and it's a PITA. We're constantly re-rolling things to keep water out.

Next year we're selling it all and getting drysuits.

absolutely go for the suit. It's much easier to get in and out of than the combo, plus you don't have several tight layers around your waistline. You can get the suit w/ feet included for an added bonus.
