I have had 4 dry suits over the years. I have boated in all four seasons. Walked through the snow to put ins, paddled in snow squalls, done multi days in Idaho in April and May. I haven't worn one of the dry suits in 20 yrs. I have found a good dry top, neoprene shorts that go below the knee and a bunch of different layers do the job 95% of the time. When it gets real cold I pull out the poggies and a pair of fuzzy rubber pants to wear under the neoprene shorts. Also a neoprene beanie or fuzzy rubber beanie helps a lot too. Besides all that it's easy to take a leak.
However if I were going to be boating on a bunch of glacier fed rivers a bunch I'd go for a kokatat .

I see that you are in/near Portland.

I don't know what size you are, but Southwest Washington Surplus (in Vancouver) has a never worn Kokatat "gnome" suit (LargeTall) for sale. Full disclosure, it is my brother's shop, but the suit is awesome - I have one and so do several of my friends.

here is a link to a post I made on these boards a while ago about them, including pics

Kokatat M.A.S. Info?

They are even flash fire proof, you know how important that is on the river!

but can you see its opposition | comes a-rising up sometimes | that it's dreadful and position | comes blacking in my mind | ....and then I see a darkness

Ive got a good condition IR Double D Drysuit Large Id be wiling to let go for $575.... Better than kokatat IMO. Thicker, lasts a lot longer than the kokatat goretex i had for about the same time period and still looks brand new, not shredded like my kokatat...
