To be honest, 90% was a low ball number. The times I see people in wet suits have been beginners, old timers, and a woman so small, she couldn't fit a dry suit.
On higher class water, I haven't seen hardly a person in a wetsuit (not sure I've seen a single person on class 4 or higher). I've never seen a video of any pro in anything but a dry suit either. I'd have to think there is a good reason for that. Not that I'm experience in a wet suit, I just figured I'd do as the pros do.
And I do live in California. Perhaps this is a regional thing, but that wouldn't explain the pros.
