Dry top and pants

I am looking for a good dry top and dry pants to pair together. Any suggestions on which make is the best and which ones are recommended?

Kokatat bibs + matching drytop

I use the tropos bibs and top. Not as well insulated as the Gore-tex but dry as a bone together.

Why would someone want a dry top/pants combo over a dry suit? I am just wondering. I have a dry suit, and also a dry top, but no dry pants? Do they keep you dry if you were to swim? Thanks

Cost. I have a Kokatat drysuit and also tops and pants. Tops and pants can keep you dry in a swim if properly layered. I have the NRS Blackrock pants and they work well. Easy to strip the pants off to shorts if the day gets too hot.

This time last year I started looking into the same thing. I was looking for the top and bottom combo to save some coin, and for my wife to be able to wizz easy.
I purchased Bomber Gear tops and bottoms for the wife.
After rolling the two together as perfectly as possible, and purging out any extra air, they are mostly dry. After about a minute of drifting behind the boat the combo leaked about a cup of water. If you take a swim, you'll get a little wet. You better have something dry to change into if its real cold.

I'll get the mrs's a nice Kokatat goretex one of these days, but she's happy to wear the 2 piece setup for now.

I use a Stohlquist top with NRS pants. They keep me warm and dry enough to run III/IV. A dry suit would be necessary for off-season IV+/V water, or just to stay more comfortable if you get cold easy...but it's nice to have the ability to layer it up to keep me warm enough in the off season and be able to use the same gear with a different layering configuration in the middle of summer.
