I'm using a big tank. I bought a century tree that has a hose on the end of it. I need to figure out how to mount it to the tank. The height of the tree, tank and lantern are about 5ft. That is plenty of height.

It's been my experience

Ok. I started off using a tree car camping. If you put it on top of a table it was kind of alright but very awkward. That amount of leverage from a 5 foot tree is enormous. The higher the light source the easier it is on the eyes. I took to throwing a line over a tree hoisting it 10 feet in the air and attaching the lantern to a hose. This provided great light for a group to carry on way after dark. On the river in summer I have found that I after consuming sufficient alcoholic beverages for some one of my age that by the time the sun goes down (8:00 pm)I have no need for a major light source. I just need a flash light to find my way to the river. A 5 foot tree with hoses running off it is a sure fire accident waiting to happen. It's way too top heavy.

Thanks for the input. I will have to figure out what is going to work best for me. Time to make some trips to the store.
