Dagger GT 8.1 vs Wavesport Big EZ

Begginer looking for advice. 6' feet tall, 210lbs. Looking for first kayak. Been rafting, certified as raft guide, etc, but want to get into kayaking.

Any advice on above boats? Looking obviously to progress fast, live in NC, working as guide at new whitewate center to be built, run rivers, have fun.

Currently used dagger GT I saw was $500 (including aqua-bound paddle) and negotiable, and 2004 model. Wavesport is $300 and 2003 model. Both look to have usually scratches. So advice on price and more importantly boat?

Thanks, Phil

No brainer - Big EZ if you're not too heavy.

I dont see it as that clear cut. What do you want to do? The GT is a river runner and I would think you would need the larger size, is that the bigger size? It wont do much else but thats cool if thats what you want. I am your size and could never get comfy in the Big EZ, it was a foot killer from hell. It was however the classic river runner/play. I personally found the EZG much more comfy, you would want the 60 but there arent many used ones around. Neither boat is a stinker so decide what you want to do in the boat and go.

i currently have an ez and love it. i am a beginner and believe i am progressing fast due to the boat. but i would suggest to sit in them, if possible but you can't go wrong with an ez...

Thanks guys, KSC, 210 lbs and losing weight.

I've heard nothing but good reports around Wavesport, especially the EZG and EZ.

Looking to use at whitewater park, mainly which is 10 minutes away, but western NC rivers too, Nantahala, Nolichucky, Ocoee, Chattooga.

Thanks again.

Well, thats the answer, demo it. The boats paddle well, find the comfy one and the one that gets you on the river.
