creek-ish kind of boat for smaller paddler?

Hi everyone,

I'm thinking about a new boat, & was wondering if anyone has suggestions for a boat suitable for rocky creek runs, & stuff like the Piedra & Upper Animas. I'm 5'1 & 110 lbs, & think I need a higher volume boat than my old pyrhana inazone that I've paddled forever. Any suggestions? Thanks, & happy paddling!

definitely the JK Punk Rocker. There may still be one on the Buzz Swap and Boulder Outdoor Center had a couple recently. The boat is great and ideal for your size.

I'm 5'6-130 lbs, and paddle a Pyranha Ammo Small. It is very similar to the Burn but has one more set of edges. Both surfs and boofs very well.

My first year back after a 7 year break I boated a Burn. This last winter I upgrade to a Fluid Solo. It is, without doubt, one of the best boats I have paddled. Plenty of volume, secondary stability is awesome, rolls easily and punches holes and boofs great. You should seriously check out a Small Fluid Solo. Talk to the guys/gals at CKS, here is the link.

Good Luck, Lenny.

You're the exact size of my wife, after demoing a lot she really liked the little hero.
The small ammo she said she didn't like the fit on. (it's one of my favorite boats personally) I'd say just demo as many as you can & find one you feel good in. Everyone will have different things they like about a boat, so much personal preference.

Not in any specific order:
Wavesport stubby;
Jackson Little Hero;
LL Remix;
Dagger mamba;
Pyranha Ammo;
Wavesport Diesel;
Fluid Detox;

A planning hull is common between all of these boats. Try as many as you can and decide for yourself.
